Third graders are imagining they are Mr. Plumbean from the story The Big Orange Splot.
Mr. Plumbean creates the colorful house of his dreams and discovers his individuality. His neighbors are not so happy because their neat street has been destroyed. In a late night talk what can Mr. Plumbean say that will convince his neighbors to follow their dreams and create the house that says, "My house is me and I am it. My house is where I like to be and it looks like all my dreams." Second graders are working on partner scenes from the adventure of Jack and the Beanstalk. In pantomime they explore how it feels to enter the Giant's world where they are so small that they swim in a bowl of cereal, climb up a stack of pancakes and slide down a piece of bacon to hide from the Giant. First graders and Kindergartners have been creating the animal characters in the magical story of The Mitten. They acted out the story and identified the chorus as a pattern. Then we used puppets to tell the story.
